The second instalment of the Hunger Games franchise is slated to hit the big screen worldwide. But before that happens, the stars have strolled the red carpet in Berlin for the German premiere.

The second instalment of the Hunger Games franchise is slated to hit the big screen worldwide.

Avid fans gather at Berlin's Sony Center just to catch a glimpse of the stars.

The Hunger Games series, based on the action sci-fi books by Suzanne Collins, has attracted an almost cult-like following. In the second instalment of the trilogy "Catching Fire", the games keep escalating.

23-year-old Oscar-winner Jennifer Lawrence reprises her role as Katniss Everdeen, who has become a symbol of hope for the oppressed after winning the 74th Hunger Games.

In an attempt to keep her and her fellow champions in line, the authorities put a twist on the 75th Hunger Games, turning the existing victors into a pool of new contestants. Katniss and Peeta find themselves facing off against an even deadlier crew of opponents.

Speaking at the premiere in Berlin, Lawrence says there's more to the film than just an action-packed story.

"Well there's lots of messages about family and about our society and the media and the most important message to me is how powerful one voice can be," said Jennifer Lawrence.

Francis Lawrence once again takes up the directorial reins for the series' second outing. He says the film will keep people on the edge of their seats.

"This is where I think the story really starts to open up. I think the stakes ramp up, not just for Katniss but for the whole nation of Panem. I think it's where all the themes of the books really start to kick in in a big way and the message that Suzanne Collins is selling with these stories I think really starts to kick in. I think we start to see the damage that the characters have taken from being in the games, I think it all gets more complex," said Francis Lawrence.

"Catching Fire" will open in German and Chinese cinemas on November 21st and throughout North America on Nov. 22, so brace yourselves for the next adventure.
