Aluminum Christmas trees back in vogue. |
For some people in the United States, these Christmas trees made of aluminum bring back vivid memories.
Back in the 60s aluminum Christmas trees were an exciting product to have around the house. They were even mentioned in the still-popular Charlie Brown Christmas Special.
Aluminum Speciality Company in Wisconsin began marketing them back in 1959.
In the last decade they've seen a resurgence, becoming a trendy item to have in festive living rooms.
"It's down to people wanting something new to decorate their house. And that's really where the aluminum tree came in. It fit their purpose very very well," said Jerry Waak, former vice president of Aluminum Speciality Company.
This book - named "Season's Gleamings: The Art of the Aluminum Christmas Tree" may have helped put them back in the spotlight.
But with their rekindled popularity, it seems they were never too far from people's hearts.
