With the end of the London Fashion Week, Milan has opened its doors to men's catwalk shows and exhibitions. The Italian city will host four days of menswear shows.
White shirt, black tie and tartan - all these constants define the elegant style of the Corneliani show - the first brand to start Milan Men's Fashion Week this year. The world's high-end and most luxury brands always keep the world's fashion capital of Milan on their Radar.
On the first day, the work of ten designer labels, including the top brands such as Ermenegildo Zegna and Jil Sander are on show. The spirit of the latest edition of Zegna is a cosmopolitan look, luxurious, but still comfortable.
Mr Gildo Zegna describes his collection: "I think it's a look you can wear in a city, in any city of the world. It's a very universal fashion look. It makes you look comfortable, at the same time look different."
Under the shade of the economic crisis, the Italian fashion industry is keen to provide not just the top labels, but also the medium brands to the Chinese consumers. While there's no presence of Chinese designers in this four-day event, the organizers look forward to seeing more Chinese brands.
"The Chinese new brands are very interesting. In my opinion, it's very new creation," said Mario Boselli, president of National Camera Moda of Italia. "We are happy to see more Chinese designers in both Milan Women's and Men's fashion week."
Forty different brands will join this year's fashion week, a slight increase in comparison with last year's result. The whole industry expects a five percent growth in revenue by the end of 2014.
The fashion world is now focusing its lens on the style conscious city of Milan. In the next three days, the world's most prestigious brands will unveil their menswear collection in the historic buildings and boutiques across the city.
