Singers vie for a place in CCTV’s Spring Festival Gala

The annual CCTV Spring Festvial Gala is the most watched variety TV show in the world. The gala's auditions allow young singers to compete for a spot on this legendary stage. And the contestants are now down to just 6, competing for three places on the night.
The competition is getting fiercer, with the 10 contestants becoming 6 in this semi-final.
Contestants must show their singing talents in less than two minutes, so most of the singers have picked songs that require a high-standard of vocal skills like "Angel".
Liu Sihan, Contestant, said, "The competition is getting fierce, so this could be the last round I'm in!"
Wang Xiaoming, the girl who received an express pass in the last round, has decided to challenge herself in the semi-final.

Her song "Riding the White Horse" includes elements of traditional opera, sung in the Minnan dialect- a daunting task for any singer.
Wang Xiaomin, Contestant, said, "One of my colleagues comes from Minnan and I’ve been practising the dialect for days with him, it has to be perfect."
Despite the tough challenges ahead, the contestants are not so preoccupied with the final result.
For most of them, what they've learned and experienced in this competition is most important.
Contestant Li Qi said, "Of course it would be great to perform at the Spring Festival Gala, but at least we’re getting close to that stage. And that’s enough for me. I've learned a lot along the way."
Next week the final 6 will face their final battle.
A judging panel including Feng Xiaogang, the director of the 2014 Spring Festival Gala, along with a voting audience will name the top three to sing at this year's Spring Festival Gala.
