European Union governments have also started to suspend some economic sanctions against Iran as part of a ground-breaking nuclear deal under which Tehran has scaled back its nuclear work.

Implementing the agreement will ease restrictions in the trade of petrochemicals, precious metals and insurance for oil shipments, among other measures. This rollback of EU sanctions is expected to go into effect on Monday.
