Zhejiang reports 49 H7N9 cases, 12 deaths

Zhejiang province has released its latest figures for H7N9 bird flu. As of Monday, the province has confirmed a 49 cases, 12 of whom have died. One person is said to have made a full recovery, while 36 are still being treated in hospital. 41 of the 49 cases involved people who had direct contact with poultry. The number of infections has been rising steadily in Zhejiang since January the 9th.

Meanwhile, Hong Kong confirmed one H7N9 bird flu case was found at a local agricultural products wholesale market. The special administrative region says it will cull about 20-thousand poultry in the market on Tuesday morning.
