Highlights of Sochi Winter Olympics on Feb 9

There were five gold medals up for grabs at the Sochi Winter Olympics on the first full day of competition.

Norweigen lead the early medal table as they took two biathlon golds.

and American snowboarder, Sage Kotsenburg will go down in the record books as the first winner of a gold at the 2014 winter games.

And we already have several winners. We start with the very first winner, and it was in one of the brand new events, the men's snowboard slopestyle.

And it was won by this guy - Sage Kotsenburg - of the United States. The 20-year old, scoring 93.5 on his first run of the contest to take the title. Norway's Staale Sandbech took the silver medal, while Mark McMorris' ended up with the bronze for Canada.

BJOERGEN WINS WOMEN'S 15K SKIATHLON

Meanwhile in the women's 15-kilometer skiathlon. Marit Bjoergen of Norway crossed the finish line in 38 minutes and 33 seconds, to defend the title she won at the 2010 Vancouver Games. Sweden's Charlotte Kalla got the silver there, while Bjoergen's teammate Heidi Weng finished third, matching her bronze at the 2013 World Championships.

KRAMER BREAKS OR TO WIN 2nd STRAIGHT GOLD

In speedskating. Sven Kramer of the Netherlands started Olympic redemption in style by claiming his second straight men's 5,000 meters gold and breaking his own Olympic record. His teammates Jan Blokhuijsen and Jorrit Bergsma completed a medal sweep by the powerful Dutch team.

BJOERNDALEN CLAIMS BIATHLON GOLD

To the men's biathlon 10-kilometer sprint. Ole Einar Bjoerndalen of Norway won the gold medal. Austrian Dominik Landertinger took silver and Czech Jaroslav Soukup won bronze.

DUFOUR-LAPOINTE SISTERS DOMINATE FREE SKIING

A memorable moment happened in the freestyle skiing. Canada's Justine Dufour-Lapointe won gold in women's moguls, while her sister Chloe took the silver. Behind the Dufour-Lapointe sisters was Hannah Kearney of the USA.
