The local government of South China's Guangdong Province has vowed to crackdown on prostitution rackets operating in the city after a news report highlighted them.
It comes after 67 people were arrested for involvement in prostitution rackets in the city of Dongguan in Guangdong province. Police made the arrests acting on a report that appeared on China Central Television that purported to show some hotels in the area involved in the sex trade. Dongguan police raided the venues on Sunday night, and 12 of them were shut down due to involvement in the sex trade. Meanwhile, all local police station heads who were in charge of areas where this was carrying on, have been suspended pending further investigation.
