Xi stresses improving governance system and capability

The CPC Central Committee General Secretary and state President Xi Jinping has stressed the importance of improving and developing socialism with Chinese characteristics and promoting the nation's governance system and capability.

Xi Jinping said these were the overarching objectives of the the third plenary session of the 18th CPC Central Committee. He made the remarks at a seminar attended by provincial or ministerial level officials to study and implement the spirit of the third plenary session at the Central Party School.

Xi Jinping said in order to adapt to the nation's modernization process, it is important to enhance the Party's governing capacity to make it more scientific and democratic in accordance with laws. He said efforts should also be made by the government institutions to better fulfill their duties, adding people's ability to manage national and socio-economic affairs should be strengthened as well.
