Oscar Pistorius goes on trial today in Pretoria accused of murdering his girlfriend Reeva Steenkamp.

Pistorius was granted bail a year ago. Prosecutors say they will seek a life sentence if Pistorius is convicted, the harshest punishment available in South Africa, since the country abolished death penalty. If convicted, Pistorius will be sent to prison for at least 25 year before he gets the chance of parole.
