Chinese president holds meetings with EU leaders

Chinese President Xi Jinping is now in Belgium, where he has held meetings at the European Union's headquarters in Brussels.

President Xi held talks with EU Council President Herman Van Rompuy on Monday. Xi Jinping said China and the EU have maintained deep ties for decades and this relationship affects the world economy.

Xi said China and the EU should boost their strategic partnership.

Van Rompuy said President Xi Jinping's visit shows the strategic partnership between China and the EU has a solid basis. He said the EU's economy was showing signs of recovery and more reform measures would be carried out.

Xi Jinping also met with Martin Schulz, president of the European Parliament.
