In Brazil, if you want to go somewhere that combines both natural and artistic splendor, look no further than Inhotim, a world renowned museum built deep in a forest along the coast of the Atlantic Ocean. Although it's a remote, hidden place, it lures more than 200,000 visitors every year.

Inhotim is a world renowned museum built deep in a forest in Southeast Brazil.

Contemporary art might be hard for some people to understand. But in Inhotim, otherwise incomprehensible pieces are like animals wandering about in the forest.

Founded by former mining tycoon Bernardo Paz, the museum opened to the public in 2006 and boasts two dozen art "pavilions". The main installation in this globe-shaped pavilion expresses clashes between modernism and environmental protection.

Roaming through this 5,000-acre botanical garden, the ideas conveyed through these contemporary art works become easier to comprehend. Inhotim boasts 500 permenant works by noted Brazilian and international artists. The enormous garden is a place for visitors to relax and unleash their imaginations, and an ideal "studio" for artists to create larger-than-life works.

The half-botanical garden half-museum is located in southeast Brazil, on the transition between the tropical grassland and the coastal region of the Atlantic Ocean. Its rich variety of plants attract many visitors longing for the calming purity of nature, as well as the philosophical challenges created by modern art.
