A film feature is brought to life. The "Grand Budapest Hotel" from Wes Anderson's film of the same name. But you won't have much luck re-creating the movie experience by booking a room. Because the hotel is built entirely from Lego - using thousands of pieces of the plastic bricks.

Over 50,000 bricks were used to make the 7 foot tall model that weighs around 150 pounds - That’s a lot of plastic.

This behemoth of a LEGO creation was built to resemble the Grand Budapest Hotel from quirky auteur Wes Anderson’s film of the same name. Led by LEGO expert Ryan Ziegelbauer, a team of builders spent 575 hours building and designing the replica. The model was created as a promotional tie-in for the film’s DVD release.

Fox Searchlight, the studio behind the film, has posted the video on YouTube in anticipation of the Blu-ray and DVD release of the film. The minute-and-a-half video shows the making of the model in time-lapse photography, from start to finish. The film opened the 64th Berlin Film Festival in February.

The model is made from certified Lego bricks from collectors and wholesalers from Lithuania, Poland, Latvia, Germany, Italy and 14 different states in the U.S.

With an all-star cast including Ralph Fiennes, Tilda Swinton, Bill Murray and Adrian Brody, "The Grand Budapest Hotel" will be released on Blu-ray and DVD on June 17th.
