Carvens shows menswear collections |
Carven's Spring Summer 2015 collection features tailored suits combined with denim jackets, as well as slim trousers hemmed with elastic bands.
The color palate includes basic black, white, grey and earthy hues, but also electric orange in a structured trench coat. There's also an oversized bomber jacket with embroidered petals, reminiscent of French apprentice uniforms.
"The collection is inspired by all the guys I meet every morning when I go to work in the early morning, you know it's guys that are maybe like 16 or 20, or maybe even older, and you know they're working in a boulangerie (bakery), boucherie (butchery), we call them the commis de cuisine (commis chef) for example in French, and you know like they got a cool attitude but with things they would buy like as a uniform you know just to wear them to work," designer Guillaume Henry said.
And Valentino also seems to be loosening up...
The label's menswear fashion show sees designers trying to break out of their couture-conscious mold.
Along the pared-down catwalk of wooden planks, 52 looks in myriad styles are showcased. The strongest come from the simplest ideas, such as a fitted satin burgundy and gray suit that shimmers rock 'n' roll.
"Men collection is about our brand in some way and so our point of view is that couture is very important so our collection starts with eight outfits that we did in couture. We think this couture is very important also for main collection because it's a vision of our brand," designer Maria Grazia Chiuri said.
Over to Raf Simons, who has looked East for spring and summer with yet another inventive menswear collection, mixing contrasting street styles with Japanese vestimentary codes.
Models with wispy Asiatic fringes and brightly colored sneakers sport long jackets in sanitized white, navy and black, with shawl-collar lapels borrowed from the traditional kimono.
Wednesday marks the first day of menswear collections in Paris, after wrapping up four days of shows in Milan. Paris Men's Fashion Week runs through Sunday.
