Chinese high school students may have put the stressful college entrance exams behind them, but the pressure's not over yet. The time has come for them to fill out their college applications.
Fortunately, or perhaps not, they're getting some advice from many who have gone through this turning point in life. Here are some of the "pressing considerations" for choosing a major, shared on the microblog Weibo.
"Do not choose journalism, because there'll be no vacations all year round". A very practical concern for the ladies: "Don't choose English, there are no dateable guys". There are more graphic warnings too. Advertising design is out, because "you'll do so much overtime work it'll make you sick". So is international relations, as "you'll be studying about killings all day". And of course, forget environmental engineering, "because your internship will be in plants for sewage treatment and waste disposal."
