Shanghai Husi Food is suspected of providing meat that had passed its expiration date to fast food restaurants including McDonald's and KFC. It is reported that some food had been expired for over 6 months and it was being processed under poor hygienic conditions.
The Shanghai Food and Drug Administration halted the company's operations on Sunday. It is the second time in two years that McDonald's and KFC have been involved in such scandals, although both of them claim they have strict food safety regulatory and supplier selection systems.
