Argentina's Florian Mayer was looking to upset the top seed, David Ferrer, at the Hamburg Open, and claim the first singles title of his professional career. But doing so would not be easy for the World No. 46, as the higher-ranked Spaniard came out strong in the first set.

Mayer enters the court knowing that a tough task awaits, against the World No. 7 and former French Open Finalist. And the first set goes to tiebreak, with Ferrer breaking the Argentinian's serve to win 7-6. But the underdog comes back to dominate the second set, and Mayer holds serve this time, as the Spaniard sends the ball long, so a 6-1 victory makes it level.

Then the man from Argentina breaks his opponent's serve in the final set, going up 3-2 after five games.

And soon Mayer would be serving for the match, which he wins with this easy smash at the net. The final scoreline is 6-7, 1-6, 7-6 so Mayer is the Hamburg Open champion and the 30-year-old finally has a singles trophy on the professional tour.
