Amidst all the pain and suffering, we are also seeing acts of kindness in all walks of life. Many have rushed to blood donation stations to offer blood, and some are volunteering to help in hospitals.

Blood supplies are running low with only enough blood to treat around 100 patients, staff say.

"I really want to do something for the quake-stricken area. It’s no big deal for a thirty-something young guy like me."

"I can do nothing, but can at least donate this blood, to help them get through the hardship."

And in No. 1 People’s Hospital in Zhaotong, many others have volunteered to help out.

"We help the patients get medicine and other things. Most of us are students, and there are also working people."

"We help change the quilts. I can only do little things, but together we are powerful."

And these student were here to comfort this child, who said her mother was killed in the quake.

Many more volunteers remain on hand, to offer help wherever they are needed.
