Buenos Aires Fashion Week is in full swing. Spring and summer designs are hitting the runway at an unusual fashion venue - the city's agricultural exhibition center, normally a place for farmers to show off their wares.

The Southern hemisphere is warming up for Summer. And Day 1 of the four day fashion fest in Buenos Aires gave fashionistas a glimpse of some new summer collections.

"Las Pepas", by Eva Nowodworski, featured light, thin outfits, with vivid colors the order of the day.

"Well, in this new collection we can see many tropical prints, many floral prints. They're romantic and have a 60s feel. There's also a very strong sports line. It's an eclectic mix," she said.

Next up was the new collection by Roma Renom. It's aimed at women between 25 and 50 -- independent woman, mixing family and careers.

The outfits were designed to suit a variety of occasions, colourful flowing dresses were contrasted by more business-like attire, but still featuring intricate hand-stitiched lace and chiffon.

"We focused on subtlety, in detail and in clarity. We want women to get rid of some of their accessories and make their skin become the main protagonist. We used chiffon, organza and combinations of embroidered linen," said designer Roma Renom.

Day one ended with Romina Cardillo's second "Nous Etudions" collection. Themed on simplicity, the models wore fashionable cuts in chiffon, cotton, jersey and neoprene, again, designed for women on the move.

More than 20 collections by Argentine and international designers are being shown during the 4 day event, which runs until Friday.
