YOG: China adds two swimming gold medals

On day seven of competition at the Nanjing Youth Olympics, China won two medals in the pool, bringing the hosts total in swimming to eight for the competition, and thirteen overall in the water.

Yu Hexin 

In the men's 50-meter butterfly, the swimmers in the three middle lanes battled it out for the gold, and 18-year-old Yu Hexin of China touched the wall first, finishing in 24.03 seconds, six-one-hundredths of a second faster than Aleksandr Sadovnikov from Russia. Latvia's Jains Saltans won bronze.

In the women's 4x100m freestyle relay, the Chinese team held onto the lead heading into the final leg, they were in control, and eased to victory. Qiu Yuhan, Shen Duo, He Yun and Zhang Yufei won gold in 3:41.19; Russia was second, Australia third.

In the women's 50m backstroke, the Netherland's Maaike de Waard in lane three made a superb finish to touch the wall first, in a time of 28.36 seconds. The UK's Jessica Fullalove had to settle for silver, and New Zealand's Gabrielle Fa'amausili the bronze.
