Giant animal sculptures just keep popping up all over the world! Following the success of the yellow rubber duck - the giant bathtub toy that has toured the world - its creator is showcasing two more works in Taiwan and on the River Thames in London.

Dutch artist Florentijin Hofman's latest creation is a 25-metre white rabbit, leaning up against an old aircraft hangar. It's part of the Taoyuan Land Arts Festival, held at the historic Taoyuan Naval Aviation Base in Taiwan.

Hofman's creation is called the Moon Rabbit. It's made from weatherproof paper and celebrates the Chinese folk tale of a rabbit on the moon, as the Chinese Mid-Autumn Festival approaches. According to Chinese folklore, a rabbit was sent to live on the moon as a reward, after he proved his selflessness to the gods.

"When we see the full moon, we can see a rabbit grinding the rice. That's the story we've all heard since we were young, so this exhibition reflects our playful imagination about this old story." said Benjamin Tchang, Director-General, Cultural Affairs Bureau.

The Taoyuan Land Art Festival will take place from September 9th to 14th. At the same time, a 21-metre-long wooden hippopotamus has been seen floating along the River Thames in London.

"Well the inspiration was the children's book of my daughter, where the design of a hippo was drawn, and when I came to London I knew the restrictions of the 6-metre-high bridge, so I needed a stretched object, and together with this design of this hippo in the booklet of my daughter, I designed a 3D model out of it." said Florentijn Hofman, Artist.

This is the Dutch artist's most recent piece, and it took 12 weeks to design and build. It will be on display throughout September.
