With light rain falling, Nigerian-born Ogunode powered past the competition in a time of 9.93 seconds. China's Su Bingtian took silver at 10.10 and Japan's Kei Takase finished third; another Chinese, Zhang Peimeng, finished fourth.

In the women's 100 meters, China's Wei Yongli won gold in 11.48, forcing defending champion Chisato Fukushima of Japan into second place, just 0.01 behind. Olga Saf-ron-ova of Kazakhstan was another 0.01 back in third place.

Chinese Olympic bronze medalist Zhang Wenxiu won her third consecutive gold in the women's hammer throw. Zhang shattered the Asian Games record with a throw of 77.33 meters. Teammate Wang Zheng finished in second, and India's Bala Manju got the bronze medal.

China's Xue Changrui won the men's pole vault by clearing 5.5 meters, with Japan's Dai-chi Sawano second and South Korea's Jin Min-sub third.

In the women's singles final in badminton, China's Wang Yihan took on current world number one Li Xuerui. Li took the opening set 21-11, but Wang won the second 21-17 to level the match. But Li lost her focus in the final set, giving up several easy points. And Wang did not let her chance slip away, taking the gold when this Li return sailed wide, 21-7 in the third set.

On the men's side, Chinese superstar Lin Dan beat world number one Lee Chong Wei of Malaysia 2-1 in a breathtaking semifinal clash. The first two games were tied at 1-1, but Lin overwhelmed Lee In the deciding game. The long-time rivals met 31 times before the Games, with Lin winning 22.

China continues to lead the medals table and now has 106 golds. Hosts South Korea are second with 42, followed by Japan with 34.
