Beijing is set to hold a hearing to decide on plans to raise public transportation's price.

Beijing to decide on raising subway and bus fares

The discussion, attended by 25 representatives, will focus on two versions of adjustment on ticket fare of the bus and subway. A survey done by media shows 63 of the 100 respondents support the adjustment. There are now 17 subway lines operating in Beijing, covering a distance of more than 460 kilometers. The fair, however, has been charged under the sole principle, two yuan for each person, regardless of the distance they cover.

If the adjustments were made, spending 2 yuan to take the subway going everywhere in Beijing will be going to an end.
