Beijing is hosting a regional conference on Afghanistan. It's the latest meeting in the Istanbul Process on Afghanistan, which was established in 2011 to promote the security and stability of the country, in cooperation with its neighbors.

Premier Li says that China will help support Afghanistan's peaceful development and economic rebuilding.

Chinese Premier Li Keqiang and Afghan President Ashraf Ghani addressed the opening ceremony of the Fourth Ministerial Conference of the Istanbul Process. Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi and his Afghan counterpart, Zarar Ahmad Osmani, are co-chairing the meeting, which is being attended by foreign ministers or senior representatives from Afghanistan's neighbors.

Premier Li says that China will help support Afghanistan's peaceful development and economic rebuilding.

"We have relieved Afghanistan of their maturing debt and provided 1.5 billion yuan of aid with no strings attached. We have helped build hospitals, schools and a water conservancy project in Kabul and throughout Afghanistan. China has also helped train more than 1,000 professionals in Afghanistan. I mention these numbers here, not just to highlight what we have done, but to indicate our continuous support for the country," he said.
