Ancient town Wuzhen transforms into grand open theater

The 11-day Wuzhen Theater Festival has come to an end. Thousands of theater performances from Asia, North America and Europe were staged in the ancient Chinese town in Zhejiang province.

East China's town of Wuzhen was transformed into a grand open theater for nearly 2 weeks. The old streets were fully packed with tourists and theater fans who came from around the world to see the performances.

"Wow, there were so many for two weeks here. So there were so many different performances. It was very nice to see foreign and Chinese performances. The mix was amazing." Kevin Savary, a Belgian tourist said.

Over 300 theater groups performed in this ancient water town that is often called the "Venice of the East". It was an exciting new experience for the actors and actresses.

"It has been great. It's cold. But it's fine.. I really like it. Different acting. Different things to see." Rebecca Agbolosoo, an American actress said.

The Youth Competition awards were unveiled during the Wuzhen Theater Festival's closing ceremony.

Famous Chinese actor Huang Lei announced the winner. The top prize went to "If Leaves" by young Chinese Director Mao Ernan.
