'Kingsman: The Secret Service' has had its world premiere in London, where a host of stars -- including Colin Firth and Taron Egerton -- walked the red carpet. Firth admits the stunt training for 'Kingsman' was 'painful' and 'horrific', while rising star Taron Egerton says the world premiere was the best night of his life.

Colin Firth led the stars on the red carpet for the world premiere of "Kingsman: The Secret Service" on Wednesday.
The 54-year-old British actor takes the role of gentleman spy, Harry Hart, and is never seen in anything less than a perfectly-tailored suit in the film, which is part homage to and part pastiche of the James Bond series.
Firth explained the training he undertook in preparation for the role's frequently complicated fight sequences took their toll.
"The stunt training was painful but if you persist at something you'll get some results so that went from being horrific to being a huge joy actually," Firth said.
Firth stars alongside veteran British actor, Sir. Michael Caine, who plays the head of the Kingsman spy agency; and Samuel L. Jackson, who plays the villain Richmond Valentine, an Internet billionaire who is trying to take over the world.
Newcomer Welsh-born Taron Egerton takes the lead role of Eggsy, a recruit to the Kingsman espionage empire who becomes Harry's protege.

"Being somewhat I suppose in the middle of the generations with Taron straight out of drama school and Michael Caine being someone that I had seen when I was a kid," Firth said. "And there we were all just sitting on makeshift wooden chairs drinking tea out of plastic cups. You realise you are all doing the same job and Michael is fantastic at not asserting his status and just being a team player and it was a huge pleasure from that point of view."
For Egerton, just 25-years-old, and only recently graduated from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art in London, landing a lead role was still hard to take in, even as he attended the premiere.
Based on the comic book "The Secret Service", the movie was directed by Matthew Vaughn, who predicts that Egerton would be a big star of the future.
"I hope so, he deserves it, he's a phenomenally good actor," Vaughn said. "To leave drama school and go onto a movie set for the first time and be the lead and not bad an eyelid and have Michael Caine, Sam Jackson opposite you and still not bat an eyelid, he's definitely got something and I think he's brilliant in the film."
Take That, only a trio now since the departure of Jason Orange, were also on the red carpet because they contributed the song "Get Ready For It" to the movie's soundtrack.
"Kingsman: The Secret Service" opens in the UK on January 29th.
