The market for unmanned aerial vehicles, better known as drones, is booming worldwide, particularly for civilian uses. There are an estimated 300 companies in China alone dedicated to their manufacture, and Shenzhen DJI Technology is one of the largest.
According to the National Government Offices Administration, 3,184 official vehicles have been sidelined, and 300 will be auctioned off before the Spring Festival. |
By simply loading it with a camera, this drone can offer photographers a breath-taking shots from the sky.
Since being founded in 2006, DJI has developed drones for a wide array of users, ranging from amateur shutterbug looking for a new views, to more professional-level demands.
There are still no exact figures on the drone industry or market shares, but based on the prevalence of the company's core technology, Mr. Perry estimates DJI now takes up between 50-70% of the global civil drone market.
While the drone industry is on the rise, Mr. Perry says there are still major challenges ahead, including the unclear regulations for low-altitude air space and improving the drones' core technologies, like battery life.
