The 57th Grammy Awards ceremony is just around the corner and there's much to look forward to this year. The annual gala is set to be held at the Staples Center in Los Angeles on Sunday night. Our correspondent May Lee gives us a preview of what's in store.
The Grammy Awards is all about honoring the best in the music industry, but it's also about putting on a great show. This year, there will be a record number of performances by artists across the music spectrum including Madonna rhianna with Kayne West and Paul McCartney and Sam Smith who's nominated in all six of the major categories, including best new artist.

"Sam Smith is the kind of artist that Grammys love. He's a new artist but he sounds classic. Old voters love him because he sounds the way singers used to sound. And new voters like him because he's cool, he's new, he's making great music," said Joe Levy, Billboard.
Also nominated for six Grammys is Beyonce, including for her self titled album that was unexpectedly debuted on iTunes without any pre-promotion. The album broke the iTunes record for sales. 167-thousand albums were sold in just three days.
The nominations do point to a trend in music, say experts, and it's all about women.
"The major categories are a strong reflection of where we're at in pop music, and so when you look at song and record of the year, you're seeing categories dominated by female artists," said Joe Levy.
Artists like Meghan Trainor and her runaway hit all About That Bass. Taylor Swift with Shake It Off. And Australian rapper Iggy Azalea and her hit "Fancy."
There are some Grammy snubs this year, one being the song that children young and old just couldn't get enough of Let It Go" from Disney's animated film "Frozen."
Although the soundtrack was the second biggest selling album of 2014, music experts say Grammy voters likely didn't nominate it for the major categories, best song and album, simply because it's a soundtrack to a cartoon.
The Grammy Awards will take place here in Los Angeles on Sunday night, and producers promise it will be the best show yet. With a record 23 performances on the schedule, audiences around the world will be in for a three and a half hour musical extravaganza.
