In Copenhagen, police have shot dead a man who opened fire on officers near the sites of two earlier gun attacks. Police say they're now investigating if the man was behind either of the attacks, which left two people dead and five officers injured.

The two attacks were just hours apart. The most recent one was in the early hours of Sunday near the city's main synagogue, in which one man was shot in the head. Police later confirmed at a press conference that the man had died from his injuries. Two policemen were also injured with one shot in the arm and the other in the leg.

This followed an incident on Saturday, in which a gunman opened fire at a cultural center. Police said it was too early to determine if the two shootings were related, and warned people to be vigilant and follow the instructions of officers flooding the city centre.
