On the first day of the Chinese New Year, China's north has been greeted with some mild weather, while the south is quite cloudy and rainy.

Over the next three days, light to medium rain will hit both south-west and south China, with some heavy rain also in the mix. Meanwhile, most of northern China will see light to medium falls of snow, or a mixure of rain and snow over the next three days, while some areas will experience some heavy snow.

Moderately smoggy weather is expected in some central regions.. This forecast may mean that it's unsuitable to light fireworks or firecrackers.
