Sunday was China's annual consumer rights day, and in what's become an annual tradition, a special investigative program on CCTV highlighted a number of consumers' rights violations by foreign companies.

Carmakers including Volkswagen, Nissan, and Daimler were criticised for charging Chinese customers too much for repairs and spare parts. Jaguar Land Rover was also slammed for gearbox problems. A spokeswoman for Volkswagen China apologized for the over-charging and promised the company would respond.

Nissan China said it would investigate, and strengthen the regulation of its service teams. And Jaguar Land Rover said it was working to resolve the gearbox issue.

And it's not just the carmakers who were tarnished, Several international clothing and fashion brands, such as Dolce and Gabbana, H&M, ZARA and ARMANI were criticized over poor quality.

Smartphone makers, on-line shopping services and furniture manufacturers were also named by the program.
