Xi Jinping meets Pakistani President

Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain in Islamabad on Tuesday.

During the meeting, Xi Jinping said that he hopes to consolidate the friendship between the two peoples and promote cooperation between the two countries through his visit.

Xi Jinping emphasized that leaders from China and Pakistan should maintain high level visits and strengthen strategic communication. He added China and Pakistan should place the construction of the economic corridor as the center piece and strengthen cooperation in Gwadar Port construction, and in fields of energy, transport and industry.

Xi Jinping also said China has supported Pakistan's role in fighting terrorism and would like to work with Pakistan to fight terrorism to maintain regional stability.

Pakistani President Mamnoon Hussain said Pakistan appreciated China's support and firmly backed Chinese government's stance on key issues. Hussain added that Pakistan would like to work with China to fight terrorism and build the economic corridor.

The two leaders also exchanged views on the situation in Afghanistan and Yemen.
