Nigeria's army says its troops have rescued about 160 more hostages from a Boko Haram stronghold in Sambisa Forest in the northeast of the country.
Nigerian army spokesman Sani Usman said troops are still trying to establish the exact number of those rescued. He said there are believed to be about 60 women of various ages and about 100 children. Usman said one woman was killed in the fighting and eight other hostages were injured.
A soldier was also killed and four wounded. The latest rescue comes after the military said on Tuesday it had rescued 200 girls and 93 women kidnapped by the militants and held in the forest.
In the last two months, the Nigerian army has taken back control of swathes of territory in the remote north with the backing of troops from neighbouring Chad, Niger and Cameroon.
