The International Consumer Electronics Show comes to an end tonight in Shanghai. CES is the world's leading electronics show. It's normally held every year in Las Vegas. But this year, it moved away from US shores for the first time.

Wearable devices, smart home-systems and intelligent cars. The CES show in China is stirring up the passions of technology fanatics.

"First I want to say we are excited to be in China. This is the first time we launch something this scale here in China. The reason we choose China is we spoke to many of members and many of our potential exhibitors as to where would be the best place to do a show outside of Las Vegas. Time and time again everybody said China," said John T. Kelley, show director of International CES Asia.

China is one of the fastest developing markets for consumer electronics. Smart products are becoming especially popular.

"We've noticed that over the last year the sale of smart products through our online shopping platforms has nearly tripled. And we're still in the early stages of smart devices in China. Within the industry, it's generally believed that the market will explode by 2017," said Eric Wang, president of JD Smart Group.

I guess the most exciting and obvious trend we could find at this year's CES is the merging of technologies. The boundaries of traditional industries are becoming increasingly transparent, with the two most prominent examples being the Internet of Things and Telematics.

"We have come to China in CES Asia to show some of the IOT that already been developed in other countries. Also to show something being developed here. And to start incubation with local companies to help them develop new products out of China’s technical system around IOT," said Roy Hill, tech managing engineer of Corporate Events.

Cars are also getting smarter with more information technology. Internet connection, green technology and intelligent drive are attracting more attention.

"This technology trend all over the world in core markets like China, Europe and North America as well. The principle we had everywhere the trend is people want to get more information into to the cars. And when it comes to the internet, all of the automobile connected. And we have a clear trend also to e-mobility in the cars," said Dr. Heinz-Jakob Neusser, member of the board of Volkswagon Brand.

According to the sponsor, over half of exhibitors attending the SEC Asia are from China. The Asia show will become an annual event in the future.
