From Thursday to Saturday, President Xi visited the Yanbian Korean Autonomous Prefecture and Changchun City in northeastern province of Jilin to check on the livelihood of the people and the operations of local enterprises.

On Thursday afternoon, Xi Jinping went to rice field in Yanbian and asked for a status report. He then visited a village activity center and watched the performance by the locals. President Xi also spent time in a villager's home and talked with the family about the improvement of their life over the past years.
The President later inspected a pharmaceutical company, a locomotive enterprise and other manufacturing firms. When talking with the workers, President Xi stressed the importance of innovation and encouraged the Chinese enterprises to seize the opportunities brought by "one belt one road" initiatives to explore the global markets.
President Xi also heard the work report of the Jilin Provincial government. He directed the local government to seek new breakthroughs when adjusting to the economic new normal. He also stressed paying more attention to boost the agricultural industry and improve people's welfare.
