Officials from China's transportation, industry and information, and housing departments have pledged to continue promoting access to barrier-free facilities for people with disabilities.
The officials were speaking at a news conference to mark the third anniversary of the introduction of regulations designed to help the disabled participate equally in life.
Lyu Shiming, vice-chairman of the China Disabled Persons' Federation, said: "Now, it doesn't matter what city you're in—whether it's the airport, bus station, shopping mall, bank or movie theater—there are barrier-free facilities, even in rural areas.
"The development of these facilities have provided conditions for people with disabilities to better participate in life, and it also reflects the achievements in social and economic progress made in our country."
