Interview with Palestinian delegate Esra Ahmad Yousef Nimer

The first conference of the Youth Council of the Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) kicks off in Beijing on Aug.11, 2015. More than 30 delegates from 14 CICA member states and representatives from the CICA Secretariat attended conference.

The CICA Youth Council was officially established during the fourth CICA summit hosted in Shanghai in May 2014. The foundation of the Youth Council was listed as one of the main accomplishments of the summit and was mentioned in the final Declaration.

With the theme of "Promoting Youth Exchange and People-to-People Bonds, Building a Beautiful Asian Community," the conference formally established a working mechanism of the CICA Youth Council by clarifying the major objectives of the council and identifying its core tasks by approved a resolution at the end of the meeting. Delegates have discussed and proposed youth exchange projects of interest to member states in the fields of employment and entrepreneurship, economics and trade, arts and literature, sports, education and youth policies during the three-day event.

The Conference on Interaction and Confidence Building Measures in Asia (CICA) is a multinational forumfor enhancing cooperation towards promoting peace, security and stability in Asia. It was initiated by Kazakh President Nursultan Nazarbayevin 1992 and now has 26 member states.

At the opening ceremony, Palestinian delegate Esra Ahmad Yousef Nimer received an exclusive interview with China.org.cn, talking her expectations for the first conference, the “Belt and Road” Initiatives and her impressions of China.
