China's meteorological authority has raised a weather alert for typhoon Mujigae, which is expected to batter China's southern regions tomorrow. The 22nd typhoon of the year, Mujigae has entered the northern part of the South China Sea. It is moving northwest at a speed of 20 km per hour with strengthening force.

The storm is expected to land on coastal areas of northeast Hainan Province on Sunday before noon. The typhoon will bring gales to coastal regions of Guangdong and Hainan provinces in the coming two days. Most parts of Hainan and southwestern Guangdong will see heavy or torrential rain.

Passenger vessels operating in waters between Hainan island and the mainland have all been suspended since Friday evening. Fishing boats in the province were also asked to stay at port from Saturday morning to avoid the typhoon.
