Chinese President meets with German Chancellor

Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with German Chancellor Angela Merkel in Beijing, who's on a two-day visit. This follows President Xi's UK state visit and meeting with the Dutch king. Next week, he'll meet another European leader, French President Francois Hollande.

Xi Jinping had a warm welcome for Angela Merkel at the Diaoyutai state guest-house. It's her eighth visit to China. Xi Jinping said the two leaders' close interactions reflect the development of relations between the two countries. Xi and Merkel agreed to greater practical cooperation in various fields, and promoting trade partnership and mutual trust. They also discussed the EU economy and migrant crisis.

Xi said the development of the relationship with European countries is one priority of China's foreign relations. He said China firmly supports the European integration progress. The two also discussed other major international and regional issues of common concern.
