Xi Jinping has also met with his Russian counterpart, Vladimir Putin, on the sidelines of G20 summit. The two leaders reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing extensive cooperation between their two countries.

China will hold the rotating presidency of the G20 next year. President Xi said China is willing to strengthen communication and cooperation with Russia in the course of hosting next year's summit. Putin voiced support for China playing a greater role in boosting international economic and financial cooperation.

The two leaders also pledged to deepen cooperation within the framework of the BRICS emerging-market bloc as well as in a wide range of areas, such as politics, economy, trade, finance, energy and culture.
