The Hong Kong Election Committee has released the overall results for the 2015 District Council Ordinary Election, held on Sunday, on its official website.

More than 900 candidates competed for 431 seats in 18 District Councils. The Democratic Alliance for the Betterment and Progress of Hong Kong, or the DAB, won 119 seats, just under a third. This is the first region-wide election following the illegal Occupy Central movement and the political reform.

About one million four hundred and sixty eight thousand registered voters went to the polls. The cumulative turnout rate passed about 47 percent, a record high for both voter numbers and turnout rate.

"I come to vote in the district election every year. I live in that district, I know who usually works for us. People who work for the district in a practical way should be chosen in district elections," said a voter of Hong Kong.

"I voted for the person who was against the Occupy Central movement. It doesn't matter where he comes from, I'll vote against him. Because it is not good to disturb our lives," a voter said.
