Hong Kong police said an initial probe showed that the carpark blaze a case of arson, and further investigation is underway.

The fire broke out in a parking lot in the Lai Chi Kok area on Friday night. More than a hundred firefighters had to battle the blaze for two hours before putting it out.

At least five explosions were reportedly heard by nearby residents. No injuries were reported, but 31 vehicles had been destroyed. A bus operator said it lost four buses in the incident.
