Leonardo DiCaprio finally wins best actor

The Academy Awards have just concluded at the Dolby Theater in California. The night's top award, Best Picture, went to "Spotlight," a film about the Catholic Church sexual abuse scandal.

Mexican Alejandro Inarritu won Best Director for "The Revenant." It was his second straight win, after taking home last year's directing award for "Birdman."

Leonardo DiCaprio got a standing ovation after finally clinching his first Oscar, which he he won for his role in "The Revenant," in which he assumed the lead role as a fur trapper left for dead.

Rising star Brie Larson trumped other heavyweights, including Cate Blanchett and Jennifer Lawrence, for the Best Actress award for her role in the movie "Room."

"Mad Max: Fury Road" won a slew of technical awards, including for costume, make-up, editing, and production design.
