Growth targets are always important. While we wait for the national growth target to be announced, nine provinces have already set their own goals this year, as a range instead of a single figure. Analysts say that kind of target, with both a floor and ceiling for expansion, is more practical, and flexible.

The thirteenth five-year plan. China wants to double its GDP and per capita income by 2020 over the 2010 level. The government's design is key to the target.

Poverty lift. China aims to build a moderately wealthy, or Xiaokang society, in the next five years. China also wants to raise the country's living standards with the elimination of poverty a must. We could expect certain answers on the issue.

Supply-side reform. How to provide higher quality service and products to meet rising demand? The Chinese economy needs an upgrade and the public needs more and better goods to consume.

One Belt One Road Initiative, or the new silk road plan. The initiative would bring new opportunities for China's opening up policy. Deputies and Representatives would discuss how the world and China can work together towards common growth during the two sessions.

Other areas of discussion will include judicial system reforms, green development, and anti-corruption efforts.
