Novak Djokovic, would look to continue his mastery over world number two Andy Murray. The Serbinator had won 12 of his 13 matches against the Scot since the 2013 Wimbledon final. But, Sunday, also marked Murray's 29th birthday, and he was hoping to celebrate with a victory in the Italian capital.

Murray would need a quick start to overcome Djoker, because he had never beaten the Serb, when dropping the opening set, and the Scot, has a 4-2 lead in the first, and is able to exchange baseline groundstrokes with the world number one, and then fires home a winner down the line, as he takes the frame 6-3.

Off to the second, and the two-time grand slam winner pounces on a second serve, and that has Djokovic on the defensive and he fires home the winner, and breaks for a 3-2 lead.

Murray now holding two match points on Djokovic's serve, and the Serb looks to be in control of this point, running the Scot all over the court, only he gets a little too lax with this attempt, and allows the world number two, to make an incredible get to seal the point, and the match.

Murray celebrates his 29th birthday by beating Djokovic 6-3, 6-3, perfect preparation for next week's French Open.
