Xi Jinping meets UN Secretary-General in Beijing

Chinese President Xi Jinping has met with the U.N. Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon in Beijing. Ban is on a five-day official visit to China. This is his 10th visit to China since he took office in 2007.

Xi welcomed Ban to attend the G20 Hangzhou summit, which will be held in September this year. He said China highly values the cooperation with the United Nations on the climate change and development issues.

Xi also said China's call for belt and road development will also help to push forward the 2030 sustainable development agenda.

Ban said he appreciated China's contributions to the U.N. and efforts in solving the tensions in the Korean peninsula. Ban said the U.N. would like to strengthen cooperation with China.
