Brazil has run security drills at Rio de Janeiro's Maracana stadium in preparation for the Opening Ceremony of the 2016 Olympic Games.

More than 2,000 people including military officers, policemen, volunteers and Olympic officials took part in the exercises. Brazilian police escorted more than 250 buses along pre-planned routes between the city and the stadium to ensure everything runs smoothly on the Games' opening day.

Officials say they are taking security seriously following the truck massacre in Nice that killed 84 people. More than ten-thousand athletes from over 200 nations are expected to compete in the Games, which will run from August 5th through August 21st.
