It has now been eight days since Chinese sailor Guo Chuan went missing near Hawaii. The search continues for the world class captain, but there still has not been any sign of the mariner.

Guo's team have arrived at Hawaii, to start an operation to bring in Guo's trimaran. The crew will go to where the vessel was found, and begin searching the water near the boat. The team were also selecting ships to take Guo's vessel back to Shanghai and Qingdao, in homage to their captain.

The skipper set a world record by completing a 138-day solo non-stop circumnavigation in 2013. He disappeared in the Pacific Ocean near Hawaii last week, while trying to set a new solo trans-Pacific world record by sailing non-stop from San Francisco to Shanghai. His support team say he was last heard from around 3:30 Tuesday afternoon, Beijing time.

They failed to contact Guo, who had spoken with his college classmate 20 minutes earlier.
