To China for tennis and the WTA Elite Trophy in Zhuhai. Two-time Wimbledon champion Petra Kvitova of the Czech Republic took on Roberta Vinci as the hard hitting third seed looked to open her account at the tournament with a win.

Kvitova blasts a serve in the first game as a sign of things to come. She would then break Vinci to take a 2-0 lead, but this serve is called out. Kvitova challenges and the review shows that it did indeed catch the line so the Czech goes up 3-0.

And on set point, it's more of the same as an ace from Kvitova gives her the frame 6-1.

Vinci would manage to win twice as many games in the second set, but that's not saying much. It's now match point for Kvitova and she takes it when the Italian veteran finds the net. 46 minutes of domination from the Czech means Vinci is eliminated with her second loss of the tournament.
