Spanish BBVA Primera Liga champion Atletico Madrid signed a commercial agreement with Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei on Thursday.
The agreement was made official in a press conference attended by Atletico President, Enrique Cerezo, who was accompanied by the first team players, Gabi Fernandez, Koke and Arda Turan, along with Atletico's sporting director Jose Luis Perez Caminero and club delegate Clemente Villaverde.
Huawei was represented by Richard Ren, the president of Huawei Consumer in Western Europe, in the signing of a two-year accord which will see Huawei's logo appear on Atletico's official shirts as well as the two collaborate in "a multitude of communications and promotional activities."
Cerezo said the accord strengthened Atletico's strategy of growing alongside the world's leading companies and that there was no better way to do that than is forming a relationship with the world leader in telecommunications.
Richard Ren said the agreement showed Huawei's continued dedication to the Spanish market and highlighted the companies integration in Spain.
The agreement further strengthens Atletico Madrid's links with China.
The club already has a collaboration accord with Chinese Super League club Shanghai Shenhua and also forms part of the "Wanda Project" which sees them train 30 Chinese youngsters in Spain, with a view to helping create a new generation of Chinese soccer talent.
